View With A Room
You are gonna love this! I came up with this lame idea sheer genius thought while I was folding laundry.

This is a picture of my bedroom; I think that our bedrooms are often a reflection of who we are, and so I decided to START A MEME about it! What's that? Right, the sound of you cheering! I knew you'd love it.

You can just post a pic of your room with no details, or with as many details as you'd like, it's up to you, cause I'm not picky like that. I'm going to tag a few people, but if you do participate, let me know, and I'll put your link up.

My bed has a quilt that somehow (ahem) made its' way from my parents home to mine. The fact that I've lusted over it for years, I'm sure, had nothing to do with its amazing journey.

The lamp is shining light upon a framed picture of the A's and a cigar box that I use to store my glasses and pens in. It also shines light upon a stained glass mobile that I bought for $5 at a second hand store about seven years ago. It's one of my favorite possessions.

The poem that I painted on my wall reads as follows:

After a while, you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead,
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child
And you learn to build all of your roads on today
Because tomorrows ground is too uncertain for plans and futures have a way of
falling
down
in mid-flight
After a while, you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers
And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong,
That you really do have worth.
And you learn, and you learn, with every goodbye, you learn.

I don't know who wrote this, but it is woven into my soul.

The items on my bed are mostly work related: luggage bag, binder, planner, hole puncher and lap top. Before I took the picture, it was covered in laundry.

Tag!! You're it:

Painted Maypole

Flutter

Julie

Lawyer Mama

Tucky

Let me know if you participate, and I'll link you.

Oh, how cool your room is. And that poem!

Ummm...my room isn't painted yet LOL!

But it is a good idea for a meme so I'll try to work it out and get over myself and just do it.

I love that poem.

My bedroom is the most pathetic room in the house, rivaled only by the room that the poor third child inhabits right next to it.

Great idea, although my bedroom is sooo boring right now I couldn't possibly post about it!! Maybe that IS what I would post, hmmm.

I must say that that poem? One of my absolute favorites!! Has been for over 20 years when I first heard it during a particularly difficult time in my life. I think of it often and love that you have it right there on your wall!

Neat idea for a meme - and I know that poem. I also forget where and who but I had that written onto one of my brown paper bag book covers in high school.

do you paint the poem on yourself, or did you have one of those companies do a transfer for you??? I have been thinking about doing it with my life mission, but am not sure. It looks great above your wall. Congrats.

That poem was a lifesaver for me, at one point in my life. I think I carry it with me still.

I copied that poem for my dearest friend, in calligraphy, whose favorite it is. I did it on paper though!
