Death is nothing at all--I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way you always used. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant...there is absolutely unbroken continuity. I am waiting for you--somewhere just around the corner.
All is well.

As a former Army lieutenant married to a former captain, we thank your family for his and your your sacrifice. We want to thank your son for his service to his country. We pray for him and all our our friends still in harm's way.

As I mother, I have no words that are adequete. The thoughts of the magnitude of your loss crush me until I think of the people your son was helping. Courage to go to combat and service to one's country are rare in this country nowdays.

My heart aches for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am saddened to hear of Matt's passing. I cannot fathom the loss of a child. No matter what the circumstances, no parent expects to out live their child. Your son gave us the ultimate of gifts - his life for our freedom. So often we forget the war until it hits us or someone we love personally. It makes us take time out to reflect and be thankful for what we have. My thanks to you and your son for his gift to all of us. Thanks too for the reminder of the those things we so often take for granted. May God help you find a path through this time of suffering.
